Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This combination of seminar and excursions aims at providing an overview of practical applications of microbial ecology. The theoretical background of various applications will be acquired in seminars. Practical use of microbial communities and the identification of microorganisms will then be demonstrated during one-day excursions. Examples comprise biological wastewater treatment, medical diagnostics, and food production processes. Each participating student will be asked to present an extended summary of distributed literature, which will subsequently be discussed with the other participants.
