Aims, contents and method of the course

The goal of this seminar which will be held in English is to scientifically discuss most recent research results in microbial ecology. Each participating student will be asked to present a brief summary of their research, which will be jointly discussed.

Continuous assessment of course work. Quality and completeness of the seminar presentation; participation in the scientific discussion

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Presentation and discussion of recent research in molecular microbial ecology and evolution.

Aims, contents and method of the course

The goal of this seminar which will be held in English is to present and scientifically discuss progress and results from ongoing research projects at the Department of Microbial Ecology (in the frame work of bachelor, master and diploma theses, PhD and post doc projects).

Die Teilnehmer erlernen und üben die Aufbereitung komplexer Inhalte, Präsentationstechniken und wissenschaftliches Diskutieren.

Aims, contents and method of the course

Topics of this seminar, which will be held in English, are most recent primary literature and research results in microbial ecology. Participants will be asked to present a brief summary of selected research publications and to critically evaluate their contents. Subsequently, strengths and weaknesses of the presented literature will be extracted in a joint discussion.
