Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Population genomics and genome evolution from next-generation sequencing data, such as whole-genome sequencing, target capture, RAD sequencing and transcriptomics. We will exemplify genomic investigation procedures to trace natural selection, genetic ancestry, function, structure and gene-environment interactions, starting with introducing basic omic approaches, such as de novo assembly and mapping. Attendance of the complementary lecture VO300127 is highly recommended.
Assessment and permitted materials
Active participation in the practical - 2 points; discussion of the results with the group - 6 points; 3 homeworks each with 4 points; thus totaling 20 points.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The students are able to understand and apply basic pipelines in genomics (e.g., quality check and filtering of NGS reads; mapping; vcf manipulation; differential expression; SNP calling), and they have good knowledge and skills in the fields of evolutionary and ecological research.Credit key: <10 points: 5; 10-11.9 points: 4; 12-14.9 points: 3; 15-17.9 points 2; 18-20 points: 1.
