Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Students will carry out projects using x-ray microtomographic (microCT) or other 3D images of small biological samples and write a research report in the format of a scientific paper. Techniques will include applications of image processing and analysis software to 2- and 3D images, 3D image reconstruction and visualisation, and 3D modeling.
This course is not blocked, so the project work can be carried out according each student's own schedule.

Assessment and permitted materials

Based on participation (20%), project proposal (20%), and final presentation (20%) and report (40%).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students will carry out a small research project, and how to present the results, while learning techniques and applications of 3D microscopic imaging.

Examination topics

Seminar discussions, independent reading, and small-group work with instructors.

Reading list

Literature specific to each project will be chosen by the instructors and students during development of the projects.
