Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This field course aims at analysing the interaction of vegetation, fauna and land management in grassland ecosystems in the NP Lake Neusiedl. Students work in small groups. Topics include (a) responses of vegetation to land use, (b) land-use effects on butterflies and diurnal moths and interdependencies between insects and vegetation. The course offers basic knowledge in ecological field methods, followed by meetings with the group supervisors to analyse the collected data at the University of Vienna. These meetings will be held in August and September.
Assessment and permitted materials
written report on selected topics, based on own data and their evaluation.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
written report (80 %), active participation in field course and during data evaluation (20 %)
Examination topics
