Introductory course to the specialization: human ecology. Frontal lecture with opportunity for discussion. Emphasis: Evolutionary ecology, Neolithic transition, solar energy-based subsistence economies, industrialization, post-democratic societies.

Aims, contents and method of the course

This lecture can be seen as an introduction into Human Ecology. Special attention is given to the scientific history and the praehistoric and historic developement of man - nature relations.

Assessment and permitted materials

Written exam (open book) at the end of semester; two more examinations during the following semester.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Basic overview of the material covered—written examination at the end of the VO and three follow-up dates in the coming semester.
