Aims, contents and method of the course

Compact Course : Overview of Protein Crystallography, Crystallization of Proteins ;+ Techniques for Crystallization, Xray Sources and Detectors, Crystals, Symmetry and Space Groups ;+ Principles of Xray diffraction: Waves and their properties, Bragg's Law, Diffractions from atoms, molecules and unit cells ;+ Examination of diffraction patterns: Ewald's Sphere, Friedel's Law, Patterson Function The Phase Problem ;+ Isomorphous Replacement, Heavy Atom Search, Harker Vectors, Multiple Anomalous Diffraction Method ;+ Molecular Replacement, Model Building and Refinement. Seminar in English. Written Examination (1 hour)
