Aims, contents and method of the course

ECTS points:3
The seminar series mainly aims at setting the stage for the field course
in Costa Rica. Besides an introduction into the region (geography,
flora, fauna) the major subjects are basic field methods in tropical
ecology and some important concepts and paradigms (e.g. insect-plant
interactions, nutritional ecology of tropical insect groups,
determinants of high species richness, stratification, gap dynamics)
