Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Course participants will investigate ecological and ethological questions in terrestrial organisms of tropical ecosystems, with a focus on pollinating insects (like butterflies and orchid bees) as well as birds (like colibris). The studies will mainly be conducted at the tropical research station La Gamba (in the "rainforest of the Austrians") and the Biological Station Monteverde. Participants will learn about biodiversity in the major terrestrial ecosystems of the Neotropical region along an elevational gradient from lowland and mountain rainforest to the forest-free Paramo vegetation at high altitudes.
