Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The lecture reviews the anatomy and physiology of plants with special emphasis on the information relevant for school teachers. The subjects include structure and functioning of plant cells, nucleus, cell division, cell types, tissues and their position and anatomy and function in plant organs. Root: tissue types, longitudinal and cross section, water and nutrient uptake. Stem: primary stem and secondary changes, transport auf water and assimilates. Leaf: tissues, specialised cells, stomata. Metamorphoses of plant organs. Hierarchical organisation of photosynthetic organisms. Physiology: Plant growth, nutrient physiology, respiration, photosynthesis, movement of plant organs, parasitic plants.
Assessment and permitted materials
Written test.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Building fundamental knowledge on the structures of plants and primary metabolic activities. Presentation of the variability of anatomical and morphological structures, as well as on physiological variations with relevance to ecological adaptations. The general and specific basis for all further scientific contents, with a special focus on the education of future teaching persons in biology.
Examination topics
Lecture course with multiple, conventional and new, media use and presentation of instructive materials.
