Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Based on recent publications, topics on systematics and phylogenetics of animal taxa are assessed. Each participant prepares a media-supported talk (20 to 30 minutes) and a short electronic summary on a selected subject and presents the problem and/or the new results in a generally comprehensive way. The following discussion enhances the knowledge in and understanding of the topic treated.

Assessment and permitted materials

Performance is evaluated by the quality of the oral presentation and the competence in the discussion.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students are able to extarct relevant information from one ore more scientific publications on animal systematics and phylogenetics to present them in a comprehensive way. They react to and answer questions in the discussion constructively, demonstrating their enhanced knowledge on the selected animal groups or phylogenetic methods.

Examination topics

Oral presentations of scientific publications, short written summaries
