Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Attendants of this laboratory course will work on current research topics of
the department. Attendants will learn how to design, perform, and interpret
molecular experiments in microbial ecology. Topics include: bacterial
endosymbionts of amoebae, structure and function of nitrifying bacteria,
evolutionary history and detection of sulfate-reducing bacteria, microbial
communities in marine sponges, DNA microarray techniques, genomics and
transcriptomics of environmental chlamydiae. Prerequisite for attending this
lab course is the lecture series "Microbial Ecology" and the lab course "Fluorescence in situ hybridization".
Number of participants is restricted to 6.
