Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture is focused on physical chemical and biophysical aspects in biology: Thermodynamic systems, 1st and 2nd Law of Thermodynamics, thermodynamic state functions, heat of reaction and free energy of reaction. Partial molar quantities: Essential meaning of the chemical potential in thermodynamics. The chemical potential and the chemical equilibrium: two and multiface equilibria with special attention to biomembranes.
