Aims, contents and method of the course
Assessment and permitted materials
(1) Ongoing participation (interim tests, drawings) 50%.
(2) final written test 50%.Ad (1) In each course unit, participation is assessed either by a written interim test or by drawings of selected objects. All 13 interim assessments are graded with up to 5 points each. Three of these assessments can be cancelled (due to absence or low score), so that a total of 50 points can be achieved for these interim assessments. (10 x 5 = 50 % of the maximum total number of points that can be achieved).Ad (2) Final assessment with practical processing of the object(s) presented (preparation, drawing, recognition, text) and written answers to theoretical or practical-theoretical questions. Duration approx. 2 hours. Maximum achievable score 50 points = 50 % of the maximum total number of points that can be achieved.

Graduates have an overview of the structure, diversity and ecological role of algae, plants and fungi (including lichens). They recognize the most important plant groups of temperate latitudes and are able to define their macromorphological structures, evolutionary relationships and ecological requirements. In addition, they master technical skills for micro- and macroscopic analysis.
Contents: Morphological and anatomical basics (basic structure, basic organs and their modifications, life span and life forms), systematics, taxonomy (ranks); diversity of Central European plants, algae and fungi (including lichens) in their ecological context (main families, genera, especially important species of the most important ecosystems); literature, analysis and diagnosis.
Methods: Introductory lectures, excursions, practical work with light and stereomicroscope, independent preparation and microscopy, as well as documentation and interpretation of the investigated organisms and their structures.
