Aims, contents and method of the course

Legal and administrative foundations of nature conservation on national and international level (provincial Nature Cconservation Laws, EU Nature Directives, Nature Restoration Law, international conventions). Implementation of the EU nature conservation legislation in Austria and the EU Member States: Site designation (Natura 2000), establishment of site management, procedure of appropriate assessment of plans and projects, monitoring of conservation status, evaluation and report to the European Commission, species protection regime, obligations of the Nature Restoration Law.

Dependent on the number of candidates: oral or written exam

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

In the case of a written examination, questions from the areas of legal bases, nature conservation law and the technical implementation of nature conservation law must be answered. The evaluation is based on the following percentage of achieved points: very good: >90%, good: 75-90%, satisfactory: 60-75%, sufficient: 50-60%, insufficient: <50%. In the case of oral examinations, at least three cross-topic questions from the above-mentioned examination-relevant subject areas are asked. The evaluation key is based on that for written examinations.
