301140 SE Protein-protein interactions and Molecular Membrane Biology (2018S)

The workshop will cover classical biochemical approaches such as co-immunoprecipitation and pulldowns as well as an imaging-based method to study protein-protein interactions at equilibrium. Membrane-localized biochemical reactions will be visualized on artificial membranes using fluorescently labeled proteins and fluorescence microscopy. Students will learn about basic strategies in protein expression/purification and basic techniques for liposome preparation and handling. Practical work will be illustrated using the assembly of signaling complexes in autophagy as example.
