Aims, contents and method of the course

Aims: Acquirement of skills for the use of databases for genome, DNA, RNA and protein sequences. Ability to analyze these sequences for solving basic questions in the molecular biology research.
Content: Search and retrieval of sequences; homology analysis and sequence comparison; identification of protein domains using multiple sequence alignment; in silico plasmid cloning, design of CRIPSR/Cas9-mediated genome editing; primer design for qPCR and PCR; analysis of qPCR data; protein structures
Methods: Practical work on computer

Assessment and permitted materials

Type of assessment, the following aspects are evaluated: active participation in the course, results of daily tasks, written report, final exam.
Permittet material: own notes, own protocol, computer, internet

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Minimum requirements for passing the course: Attendance, submission of the protocol, final exam (each of the evaluated parts must be completed with a positive grade).
Assessment criteria: active participation 25%, protocol 25%, final exam 50%
