Aims, contents and method of the course
Assessment and permitted materials
Compulsory attendance; the evaluation consists of different performances: quality and completeness of the seminar presentation, active participation in the scientific discussion of the presented publications, written records (the percentage of the subgrades will be announced by the course leader); each of the subgrades must have a positive evaluation.

- General introduction into viral mechanisms of replication;
possibilities for their specific inhibition by chemotherapy;
- biochemical basis and target molecules;
- molecular and immunological aspects of vaccination;
- therapy and prophylaxis by medication and vaccination.
Emphasis will be on: respiratory virus infections, in particular
influenza virus infection;
infections with herpes viruses;
retro virus-, in particular HIV infections;
infections with hepatitis viruses;
papilloma virus infections.
