Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course is taught at the beginning of the PhD study and covers the theoretical background of signal transduction and the prominent methods used in this research field. At the end, the students are asked to resume the lecture by giving a presentation which will be discussed with the students and the lecturer.

Foisner: Functional organization of the nucleus and signaling
Kovarik: Stress signaling
Meskiene: Signaling in plants
Ogris: Post-translational modifications
Propst: NO signaling and S-nitrosylation
Seiser: Chromatin structure, function and regulation
Warren: Organelle-based signaling
Wiche: Signaling and the control of cell shape and motility

Assessment and permitted materials

Assessment based on frequency of attendance, preparation and performance in the student presentation, and active participation in discussions

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Compulsory attendance for all VDS PhD students, student talk within the lecture framework, active participation in discussions.
