In the course, students shall assemble a short scientific project in the form of a written application and a 15 minute presentation. There are several topics for choice, experts in the respective fields will guide students through the chosen subject.

Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The aim of the seminar is to recognize important current and future topics and problems in biochemistry and molecular biology and the ability to propose modern experimental strategies to clarify current questions in biochemistry and molecular biology; experimental design and controls, detection and avoidance of possible problems, compilation of experiments into complete, feasible projects with relevant, publishable results.Discussion of current topics in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and state-of-the-art methods; Projects are written by the students including estimation of time and material requirements. In addition, students prepare and present seminars on selected methods with the help of literature which is provided. A second focus are discussions in which current topics, open questions, experimental strategies, and project design are discussed
Assessment and permitted materials
Continuous evaluation of the student about their active participation and their contribution to the scientific discussion.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Compulsory attendance;
Written scientific project (support by a supervisor) in which current biochemical and molecular biological methods are used to clarify open questions; Estimation of time and materials used in the project.
