Aims, contents and method of the course

1. Appreciation of the biology of stem cell of the heart and detailed knowledge of conceptual and experimental aspects thereof.2. Discussion of student´s ongoing experiments and the current literature.3.To work out, present and discuss experimental projects of biology of heart stem cells.

Assessment and permitted materials

Mandatory attendance and active participation in the discussion. Assessment is based on the quality of oral and written presentations of the experimental work and the literature.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Basic comprehension of the properties of stem cells that distinguish them from somatic cells, the underlying molecular mechanisms, and the possibilities and limitations of their application in basic science, biotechnology and medicine.
