Aims, contents and method of the course

ECTS: 4.0
Introduction to phase I and phase II metabolism; substrates, inducers, inhibitors of cytochrom P450, glucuronosyltransferases, sulfotransferases, acetyltransferases and glutathion-S-transferases; in vitro/in vivo methods of drug metabolism; pharmakogenetics, enzymkinetics (Km, Vmax, Ki); prediction of drug-drug interactions (examples from the Austria Codex - problem-based learning).
