Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The focus of these exercises will be on the discussion of central issues of contemporary international law on the basis of cases. The political background of these problems will also be explored. Active participation by students is strongly encouraged.
The following topics will be covered:
- the evolution and political foundations of international law
- the sources of international law
- recognition of states and state succession
- human and minority rights
- self-determination of peoples
- the prohibition of the use of force and non-intervention in internal affairs
- state responsibility
