Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Contrastive text and genre analyses of different legal documents and texts and practice-relevant translation assignments (documents related with civil, penal and administrative law) under application of translation theories,
Information about justice system in Austria and Spain,
Analysis of legal language and terminology (spanish and german), and compilation of comparable corpora.
Discussion of relevant theoretical issues,

If course units cannot be held with students in attendance on campus, exam-relevant learning materials (e.g. PDFs, PowerPoint presentations or videos) will be made available in the Moodle course and/or course units will be held synchronously as a video conference.

Assessment and permitted materials

The assesment will be continuous assessment, basing on group work, home and class assignments project work, tests, and participation on forums. At the end of the semester a written exam will take place.
Information about evaluation system will be provided in the moodle course.
Compulsory attendance is required!

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Compulsory attendance is required.
Max. 2 absences tolerated.
At least 60 points of a total of 100 points are required to pass the course.
Assesment scale:
1 (sehr gut): 100-90 points
2 (gut): 89-81 points
3 (befriedigend): 80-71 points
4 (genügend): 70-60 points
5 (nicht genügend): 59-0 points

Examination topics

All contents presented and discussed in the classes, specially those based on reflection according to translatological criteria and on suggestions discussed in the class.
