The class will be held in hybrid form, i.e. digitally and in person.
We will discuss the exact modalities in the first class on October 14th. The class will be divided into small groups so that we can all observe the social distancing regulations. Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The class aims to encourage students to find their own voice in English as a Lingua Franca. Emphasis will be placed on face-to face communication and attention also paid to non-verbal communication in multicultural settings. Special consideration will be given to non-hierarchical and inclusive modes of communication in diverse varieties of English.
Students will be expected to develop awareness of various forms of English used globally (World Englishes) and to respect local varieties.
This will be achieved through discussion, presentations and teamwork as well as reading selected literature.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Willingness to interact in spontaneous and prepared communication in English.
Ability to express one’s thoughts with confidence.
Ability to respect different forms and expressions of communication in English.
