Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Developing reading comprehension strategies and reading-based writing skills.
Students will acquire text analysis methods that enable them to understand and discuss texts as communicative events.

Assessment and permitted materials

Assessment will be based on the following:
- Written assignments (40%)
- Mid-term test (20%)
- Final test (30%)
- Participation in class and in online activities (10%)

Attendance is mandatory (two absences allowed).

Students will be allowed to use monolingual dictionaries during the tests.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

To improve the skills of reading comprehension and text-based writing with a focus on exploring different types of meaning, organizing texts and integrating sources.

Examination topics

In-class reading and writing activities (individual, pair, and group work), online activities, assignments in reading comprehension and text production.
