Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Getting started in consecutive interpretation (German-English/English-German) after successful completion of "Basiskompetenz Dolmetschen". Special focus will be on active listening and note-taking, followed by interpretation in practice-oriented situations (speeches, guided tours, meetings, interviews etc.) dealing with general political and economic issues. Time permitting, an excursion will be arranged.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Students will acquire and enhance interpreting skills, familiarise themselves with situations in which interpretation is needed, learn to expand their vocabulary and develop strategies for preparation. They will seek to deepen their skills as "messengers between cultures" in oral communication.
Examination topics
The course will progressively build students' note-taking skills (basic knowledge is required) and consecutive interpretation abilities, based on texts, audio and video recordings as well as role play.
