Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Objectives: Improving students' interpreting skills, preparation for the final exams.
Content: In this class mostly videos of speeches, interviews and panel discussions will be used. If possible there will be one live speaker.
Methods: Discussion of possible interpreting strategies, peer to peer feedback, feedback by the teacher, analysis of one's own interpretation.

Assessment and permitted materials

Evaluation of interpreting assigments in class
Self-evaluation of one interpreting assignment following specific criteria
Active participation in class

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Minimum requirements:
Compulsary attendance: You may not miss more than two classes.
Written evaluation of one interpreting assignment
For students with French as a B language: Both German into French as well as French into German require at least 60 percent.

90-100% - 1
81-89% - 2
71-80% - 3
60-70% - 4
<60 - 5 (fail)

Examination topics

Mid-term exam: Interpretation of a 10 minute speech. Topic will be announced a week before in class.
Preparation of the weekly topic covered in class.
