On 15 April, we will have a double class to practice remote interpreting from 1pm to 4.30 (the first half of this will be together with Consecutive Interpreting II: English). You can participate remotely or on site. If you are participating on site, please bring a laptop/tablet and a good headset if possible.
On 12 June from 3pm to 6.15pm, we will be in the aula of ZTW for the joint BA/MA project "Start-Up-Messe".
If you wish to de-register from this course, please do so by 31 March at the latest. After this time, it will not be possible for you to leave the course.
Continuous assessment of course work. If you miss more than two classes (with good reason), you will receive a semester grade of 5.

Assessment and permitted materials
Continuous assessment of course work. Your grade is determined by all written and oral exercises in class, at home, and online. The contributions are weighted as follows:- analysis of your own and others' interpretations 10%
- active participation (glossaries, research, taking on the role of speaker in your own dialogues, etc.) 30 %

Building on what you have learned in Basic Competence Translation A and Note-taking technique as well as Consecutive Interpreting I, this class will include the following:
- interpreting in dialogic interpreting settings based on real-world examples (role play)
- interpreting at the joint BA/MA project "Start-Up-Messe"
- research and preparation for interpreting assignments on different topics
- analysing rhetorical and contextual characteristics of authentic settings
- learning and improving interpreting strategies in different settings (consecutive, whispered interpreting, sight translation)
- acquiring and using soft skills: contact with clients, collaborative preparation for interpreting assignments, working as a team, etc.
- analysis of interpretations: self evaluation and peer feedback
- analysis of quality criteria for dialogue interpreting
- optimising output and presentationMethods:
