Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Formerly Consecutive G-E III, i.e. only for students who have completed their Bachelor Studies and what used to be called "Konsekutiv I" and "Konsekutiv II". Interpreting relatively difficult texts from German into English using the appropriate note taking techniques. Possibly video recordings of the students interpreting during a "mock conference" or an interview. Every student has to give a five to ten minute presentation in German that will be interpreted by the others.
Assessment and permitted materials
Based on class work and an oral exam at the end of term.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
To improve the conference terminology, the idiomatic English, the note taking techniques and the delivery.
Examination topics
After each interpretation the person giving the class will provide feed-back and discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the student's interpretation.
