Aims, contents and method of the course

GOALS: To improve the skill of simultaneous interpreting from Russian into German and vice versa, by practicing and critically assessing your own work; improve the capacity to do research on verious topics; expanding vocabulary in both languages; raise awareness of quality criteria in simultaneous interpreting (e.g. coherence, level of expression etc.); Improving interpreting strategies (anticipation, condensation, time lag etc.) team work in the interpreting booth
CONTENT: Simultaneous interpreting of texts (usually videos) from different fields, such as politics, economics, cultre, social affairs etc.
METHODS: Practicing, peer-to-peer feedback and feedback provided by the lecturer; (critical) self-assessment

Interpreting videos and texts (both with and without preparation)

Expanding vocabulary, focussing on various topics (vocabulary tests)
