Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Transmit basic competences in the area of translation of different kinds of functional texts (taken from print- and online media) into the A-language (that is: into German). We will translate texts related to politics.

Assessment and permitted materials

Prüfungsimmanente LV: Beurteilt werden Mitarbeit, vorbereitete Übersetzungen (70%) und zwei Prüfungsarbeiten (je 15%).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Handing in translations on time that correspond exactly to the respective requirements given beforehand by an imaginary employer, thereby attaining additional analytical, contrastive and translatorial skills.

Examination topics

Analysis of texts, further reading of texts related to the original topic (in both languages), devising glossaries of technical terms. Students will prepare translations and hand them in electronically. In class we will discuss translations.
