Aims, contents and method of the course

O objetivo primordial desta aula é a conscientização dos participantes para os problemas maiores que surgem aquando do processo tradutório.

Esta aula servirá para o desenvolvimento de competências específicas para lidar com textos da área da técnica e das ciências naturais. Os participantes irão tratar textos especializados autênticos, aprimorando as suas capacidades em termos tradutórios, além de expandir o vocabulário nas áreas abordadas. Serão entregues tarefas de simulação, com requisitos variáveis, para dar aos participantes uma ampla imagem do que os pode esperar ao traduzir para diferentes clientelas.

Para além das traduções em si, serão abordados problemas gerais da tradução, tal como: equivalência textual, (in)traduzibilidade, polisemia, registo linguístico, linguagem especializada vs. linguagem corrente, qualidade na área da tradução, etc.

É altamente desejável que os participantes elaborem glossários sobre as áreas de conhecimento abordadas para aprofundação da matéria.

Assessment and permitted materials

Serão avaliadas ao menos 8 traduções ao longo do semestre – a seleção das mesmas cabe aos participantes. A ponderação destas traduções será de 70 %.

Outrossim, a elaboração de glossários será avaliada. A avaliação basear-se-á no volume e na qualidade dos memos e será de 20 %.

Por último, avaliar-se-á a participação dos estudantes na aula, com uma ponderação de 10 %.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Entrega de pelo menos 8 traduções, assim que uma contribuição mínima em termos quantitativos no(s) glossário(s), a ser precisada no início do semestre.
