Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Students will become acquainted with selected theories, objects of study and current topics in Translation Studies.
They will learn how to critically read and assess available litearture and how to form and express their own opinions (in German) both orally and in writing.
Emphasis will also be placed on identifying and implementing the conventions of German-language academic discourse.
Critical appraisal of the literature and research trends will be practiced in small groups as well as by means of individual written assignments

Assessment and permitted materials

Individual written assignments in the course of the semester,
Participation in discussions throughout the semester;
Discussion of selected literature orally and in writing.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Written work during the Semester (exposé, hypothesis etc.): 20%
Literature research, participation in discussions, etc: 30%
Final written paper (10-12 pages): 50%
