Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The competences acquired along the BA "Transkulturelle Kommunikation" - including language competences - will be fostered. This course also provides an introduction to all those competences for students who do not hold a BA degree from the ZTW. The course also will give an orientation for the subject fields "Specialized Translation and Language Industry" and "Translation in Literature- Media- the Arts" that have to be chosen after the completion of modules 01 and 02.
Basic competences for any type of translation (strategies, text typologies, register, cultural transfer, common and thematic knowledge, mining competence, technological skills etc.) referred to all students' language pairs.
After a brief theoretical introduction to all competences translation strategies will be tackled by analysing written and oral texts - group work. Focussed exercises will give an overview to the different competences needed for the two subject fields. Reflections on the meta-level (final portfolio).
