Aims, contents and method of the course

Content/Objectives:
Developing listening comprehension strategies, critical listening and discussion skills, as well as producing spoken and written texts embedded in a specific communication situation. Methods:
In-class listening, speaking, and writing activities (individual, pair, and group work), online activities, home assignments in listening comprehension and text production.

Assessment and permitted materials

Assessment will be based on participation in class and in online activities (10%), completion of written assignments (40%), mid-term test (20%), and final test (30%). Attendance is mandatory. Students are allowed to use monolingual dictionaries during the tests.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Grading scale:
90-100%: 1
80-89%: 2
70-79%: 3
60-69%: 4
< 60%: 5 (fail)

Examination topics

Both tests will be based on the text types and exercise formats practiced in class and in the written assignments.
