Aims, contents and method of the course

Introduction into simultaneous interpreting IT>DE and DE>IT for beginners

Assessment and permitted materials

active participation in class (discussion and peer to peer feedback), preparatory exercises.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Developing basic interpreting strategies (time lag, anticipation, condensation, chunking etc.), analysing the main specific difficulties for this language pair, raising awareness for frequent problem triggers in sim, getting familiar with booth etiquette.

Examination topics

Introductory exercises (sight translation, chunking, code switching, clozing etc.), simultaneous interpreting with videos, audio files and live presentations, expert and peer to peer feedback (oral and written).
