The course will be held fully in person if possible. Full online teaching may be necessary depending on public health regulations. There will be no hybrid teaching.
If you do not attend the first lesson (without giving a good reason in advance), you will be de-registered from the course.
If you wish to de-register from this course, please do so by October 31 at the latest. After this time, it will not be possible for you to leave the course.
Continuous assessment of course work. If you miss more than two classes (with good reason), you will receive a semester grade of 5.

Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Introduction to simultaneous interpreting. The emphasis will be on bidirectional interpreting. Interpreting performance must be positive in both directions in order to receive a positive semester grade.
Assessment and permitted materials
Active participation and regular attendance are required. Only two absences are permitted. More than two absences will result in a failing grade. Ongoing monitoring of performance, with regular feedback from the lecturer and other students.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The development of skills in simultaneous interpreting through practice on a variety of material at a beginner level. Particular attention will be paid to pronunciation, intonation and fluency of expression in English.
Examination topics
The development of techniques in simultaneous bidirectional interpreting.
