Aims, contents and method of the course
The course deals with the special terminology of selected fields and contexts, special purpose text types and their conventions, principles of technical communication and research options.
Assessment and permitted materials
Written end-of-term test (no use of resources other than paper and pen allowed) to check students' knowledge of vocabulary and terminology in context - summaries and brief translations German-English, English-German
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Basic special purpose terminology in selected fields, development of strategies to improve students' word power, research skills and the ability to produce and understand technical texts.
Examination topics
"Chalk and talk" alternating with interactive discussion of English texts, sources, research examples. The main language of tuition is English, juxtaposed with German
