Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Romanian and Austrian legal terminology and bases of the Romanian and Austrian legal system. Contrastive analysis of specialized texts from civil and commercial law. Translation of official and specialized documents, also by using CAT-Tools and machine translation. Discussion, analysis, group and homework.
Assessment and permitted materials
Active participation in class, final test, portfolio of translations.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Acquiring competence in the translation of legal texts. Improving specialized vocabulary and knowledge. Improving terminological, digital, and transcultural communication skills.
Examination topics
Final test: translation of a specialized text.
Reading list
Relevant reference works on Austrian and Romanian law, specialized dictionaries. Primary literature is to be announced in class.
