Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Translation of technical texts in different areas. Job analysis and processing, text analysis, research, technical terminology, target text production.

Assessment and permitted materials

Regular attendance, participation, homework, written translation test

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Practical job and text analysis, efficient research, terminology management, critical evaluation of sources and translation strategies.

Examination topics

1. Job analysis, text analysis, discussion of terminology (group work).
2. Research of parallel texts and definitions of technical terms (individual or group work).
3. Target text production (individual or group work). Terminology, translation problems and strategies will be discussed.
4. Revision work: Students will revise their translations based on discussions in the class and upload their final version on Moodle.
The translations will then be corrected by the lecturer.
