Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Basic translational problems; processing of texts from various fields (mainly science, literature and the media) and cultures: text- and assignment analysis, research and assignment planning; translation for various purposes and target groups.
Assessment and permitted materials
Attendance and participation in class, portfolio, final test.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Processing of texts for specific assignments: Identifying source text information in its linguistic/cultural context and relevant research requirements; skopos-oriented translation process and professional handling of assignment.
Examination topics
Based on selected texts, the separate work steps of the translational process will be discussed and prepared in class. Assignment planning, research and translations in class or at home as individual or group assignments. Presentation and discussion of translations and specific translational problems in class.
Reading list
"Translatorische Methodik" von Kadric/Kaindl/Kaiser-Cooke wird als bekannt vorausgesetzt. Weiterführende Literatur wird bekannt gegeben.
