Aims, contents and method of the course

F. Steurs: Translation and specialist communication; terminology management and specialist translation.
L.v. Doorslaer: Five perspectives on translation and translation studies. 1. An institutional perspective: Why translation studies nowadays is what it is. 2. A continental (or intercontinental) perspective: Europe and the rest? 3. A media perspective: Parallels between translation and journalism. 4. An ideological perspective: Flanders in translation in the German language area. 5. A socio-political perspective: What is translation policy?
