Aims, contents and method of the course
Teaching of the basic principles and special features of institutional communication in international institutions and organizations (in particular the European Union, Commission and Parliament, Council of Europe and NGOs) and problems of multilingual communication in a legally and politically binding international framework. Structures and procedures of major international organizations, particularly the EU.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The lectures will provide an insight into the interpretation processes in the context of institutional communication and the function, task, role and position of the interpreter in an international framework. Precise knowledge of the organizations is required and the basic principles will therefore be taught.
Examination topics
Lectures with discussion at the end of each unit. Guest speakers from the international organizations will be invited as appropriate. Students will be expected to acquire the specific terminology in their own language themselves.
