Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The WHO constitution states that health is not merely the absence of disease or infirmity, but a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being. In this lecture, students will follow this holistic understanding of health and learn how biological, social and psychological factors influence health and illness. We will also use psychological science to explain how to promote health and prevent illness, with a particular accent on exercise behavior and an active lifestyle. The following topics will be discussed: the health-illness continuum, bio-psycho-social model of health, resilience, salutogenesis, subjective well-being, stress and coping, burnout, health behavior, health promotion through sport and exercise, prevention approach, and health promotion interventions.
