Aims, contents and method of the course

Goals:
- confident application of quantitative methods within empirical research
- competence to interpret statistical parameters in Sport Scientific research articles
- competecne for an independent analyses and presentation of empirical data

Contents:
- Statistics programme SPSS
- Statistical methods (descriptive statistics, interference statistics, correlation/regression)
- Statistical methods in the context of the research process (study planning, analysis and interpretation)

Methods:
- independent and guided PC work

Assessment and permitted materials

Homeworks, theoretical tests, final test

-) 3 homeworks (group work, each 10 points)
-) 4 theoretical tests (group work, each 5 points)
-) final test (50 points, can be repeated)

All sub-parts are to be completed positively, using the following grade code:
91-100% - Sehr gut (1)
81-90,9% - Gut (2)
70-80,9% - Befriedigend (3)
60-69,9% - Genügend (4)
<60% - Nicht Genügend (5)

Students must complete all parts of the course by April 30th at the latest in the winter semester, and at the latest on September 30th in the summer semester. Students who did not de-register from the course must be assessed. In the event of a negative assessment, an examination by a committee is not permitted and the course must be repeated.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Participation at the final test and a minimum of 50 points (10 + 10 + 30 from individual tasks) represent the minimal requirements.
The attendence at 75% of the lectures is obligatory.
