Aims, contents and method of the course

Objectives:
- Answering a scientific question according to the guidelines corresponding to the field of research (training science, sports biology) with the help of a (systematic) review or (only in consultation with the supervisor) as part of an empirical work.
- A Bachelor's thesis is to be written based on partial achievements.

Topics for the Bachelor's theses:
- We ask for your understanding that only the topics listed below are available for Bachelor's theses.
- All topics can be written in either German or English.
- The topics will be presented individually in the preliminary meeting on 13 March 2024.
- In the following registration window you can make a reservation for three of the topics.
We will endeavour to assign you one of your preferred topics.

Topics Prof. Csapo:
-) Fitness assessments in schools: evidence-based recommendations for different age groups
-) How well does the "Physical Activity and Sport" teacher training program prepare students for professional practice? Curricular development proposals based on a survey among graduates of the University of Vienna

Assessment and permitted materials

The entire coursework must be completed by students by the following April 30 at the latest for bachelor's/bachelor's theses in the winter semester and by the following September 30 at the latest for bachelor's/bachelor's theses in the summer semester. Students who have not deregistered from the course in question are to be assessed. In the event of a negative assessment, a board examination is not permitted and the course must be repeated. Legal source: Statutes of the University of Vienna §10 (4, 5, 6). You are explicitly informed that in the event of a fraudulent performance (e.g: Copying, plagiarism, use of unauthorized aids, forgery, ghostwriting, etc.) the entire PI-LV will be counted as cheated and will count as an attempt. (Entry in U:SPACE: X = not assessed)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The following partial performances must be completed as part of the seminar:
- Graphical abstract, literature search exercise, preliminary table of contents, exposé and bachelor's thesis

The writing of a scientific thesis is carried out according to the guidelines valid at the institute. The topic should document the current state of research. Please note that the Turnitin plugin carries out a text similarity check (= plagiarism check) when submitting the bachelor's thesis via moodle and informs you of the result. A positive grade is only possible after a successful plagiarism check. What is plagiarism? "Plagiarism occurs in any case when texts, content or ideas are taken over and passed off as one's own. This includes in particular the appropriation and use of text passages, theories, hypotheses, findings or data by direct, paraphrased or translated adoption without appropriate identification and citation of the source and the author." [§ 51 para. 2 number 31 UG]

Satisfactory: 71-80%
Good: 81-90%
Very good: 91-100%
