Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The course will familiarize students with recent research on the macroeconomic implications of Central Bank Digital Currency and clarify how this research relates to the policy discussion. The course targets PhD and advanced MA students. Particular emphasis is placed on the distinction between partial and general equilibrium perspectives.
Assessment and permitted materials
Students present towards the end of the course either (i) a model based paper not covered in class that relates to the lecture or (ii) a model based research proposal that relates to the course material. The presentation should focus on the key points and be concise and analytical. Ahead of their presentation, students must distribute to all course participants a concise, precise, analytical note (~3 pages), which summarizes the key points. The course grade reflects the quality of the presentation and the note (60%) as well as the extent of class participation (40%). Depending on class size group presentations will be possible.
