Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course is dedicated to critical theoretical and methodological approaches in the study of military institutions, militarization, and (in)security in political science, international relations, international political sociology, science and technology studies, and security studies. Individual PhD projects in thematic areas ranging from warfare and political violence to borders, urban development, global health, and environmental issues are at the center of the class.
Research concepts and designs will be developed further in the light of feminist, post-/de-colonial, critical race, political economy, political geography, and other critical theories.

Assessment and permitted materials

Written and oral presentation of research design, written and oral feedback to colleagues

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Active and continous attendance, timely handing-in of written assignments
