Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Seminar first of all aims to support the work of doctoral students during its different stages. It is therefore mainly for my own students, but not only. The thematic focus is on Eastern Europe and its political transformations in the present. It is concentrated on problems of East European democracies and of democratization. If doctoral students want to take part in the seminar than it is a precondition that their dissertation has a topic similar that I have described. All students who are not supervised by me and would like to participate I would ask to inform me by mail (dieter.segert@univie.ac.at) parallel to application via UNIVIS about their name and surname and the topic of their dissertation.
At the beginning there will be an introductory seminar at which everybody should introduce the other by describing shortly der or his dissertation project. During the semester everybody has to present a piece of its work at least one's. At the end of the semester there is a workshop lasting 1,5 or 2 days, where will give opportunity to present and discuss the project again with more time. Beyond the presentation of own work there will be the study of new literatur in the field of transformation studies on Eastern Europe.
